The Bagpiper of Normandy

June 6, 1944.  The landing craft approaches the beach.  Bullets are already whizzing through the air, striking the unlucky.  Incoming shells whine and burst.  Suddenly, a sound more deafening than the chaos of war emerges – the belching of a bagpipe.

RIP, Bill. I think you are my hero.
